EMILY PEARLMAN VASE
HANDMADE in the USA
FANTASTIC PIECE from late 20th century
This handsome piece has been securely packed away with a few other treasures in my "oldies but goodies" corner of the stock space.
It was one of those surprise and inspirational moments when a few years before her death I met her and discovered her amazing work. It was inspiring to meet this talented artist still actively creating her pieces in her "golden" years.
Mother, potter and political activist, Emily grew up in New York City on the Upper West Side. She earned a degree in economics from University of Michigan. During a stay in Japan she fell in love with pottery. While raising her three children, she earned a Masters in Urban Planning from Hunter College. She worked for New York City's Department of City Planning, then took up pottery full time. She worked tirelessly for social justice and political change. The world is an emptier place without her.
