Kavita graduated with the ” best textile designer” award in
1975 from the Polytechnic in Delhi, lndia. She went on to
work for studio Calisti in Paris ,France and her work was sold
to several French designers- Lanvin and Yves St Laurent to
name a few.ln 1979 she married her childhood sweetheart
and moved to Cleveland, Ohio. Working at Joan Luntz studio
she designed home textiles for Cannon, Burlington and Fieldcrest companies, also Mikasa and Sango. During this time here
she developed techniques for using her skills to make screen
prints and dyed silks for scarves and wraps. Malaysia was next on the map, where she had numerous exhibitions and sold finely painted garments for prominent clients including royalty, the Prime Minister’s
wife and the Queen of Selangor. Chinese brush painting styles
g reatly influenced her designing there.Her designs combine
nature with contemporary shapes and result in beautiful, unusual
scarves and wraps to flatter and adorn women of all ages.Her
inspiration comes from nature and of course her grand-daughter Ella.Kavita’s favorite part of mornings are listening to
voicemails from customers who are amazed at the quality and workmanship of her product.She now lives in Saratoga ,CA
and continues to work in the bold colors of the sunshine state.
